MORRIS MINOR 1000 2 door deluxe saloon in Snowberry White with black interior as original. First registered on 5th December 1968. We purchased this car recently from a family in London who had owned it since the 1990s when they purchased it from an Oxfordshire Vicar and became its 4th owner. Apparently the car is known as Phoebe due to the registration number! We have a large file of historical paperwork, service and repair invoices and MOT certificates with the car showing that it has been well looked after and regularly serviced. The mileage now stands at 91,300 miles.

The car has not ever been “restored” to our knowledge but kept in good condition as the photos show. It is not perfect or unmarked but is a very smart example in very sound condition having been regularly treated with waxoyl to protect the underneath. The paintwork is in good order and the chromework is particularly bright and undamaged.

The Morris drives well, with no issues and is exempt from road tax and MOT although we are happy to submit the car for an MOT test and provide 12 months MOT for a new owner.

1960 MORRIS MINOR 1000 4DOOR DELUXE SALOON. Beautiful Clipper Blue with blue leather seat facings. A very good example from perhaps the best period of Morris Minor production. This car has recently undergone a comprehensive structural rebuild at great expense to ensure many years of future life. At the same time, the braking system has been completely overhauled with the fitting of a new master cylinder, all new wheel cylinders, flexible hoses etc. The front brakes were upgraded with the larger front brakes from a later model. The suspension and steering were dismantled and new pins and polyurethane bushes fitted front and rear. The gearbox was replaced with a period correct “smooth case” unit. A new water pump, coolant and heater hoses have also been fitted and the car has been fully serviced. A stainless steel exhaust is fitted. The car has not been fully restored and is largely original and standard although front seatbelts and flashing indicators have been fitted. It has clearly been looked after during its 62year life and retains the original Wiltshire registration number and original owners handbook. Inside and out, the car is very smart and presentable without being unmarked or immaculate. It wouldn’t look out of place at a classic car event but you won’t be frightened to use and enjoy it.

Morris Minor 1000 (1098cc) 4dr deluxe saloon finished in Snowberry White with a black interior. This car was built close to the end of production and was sold new by The Morris Garages to a lady in Aylesbury in February 1970. The original tax disc holder is still in the car and displays the last disc from 1984. The car was used locally less and less frequently until 1984 although was occasionally taken out for an MOT and maintenance after that. The first MOT was carried out in 1973 and records the mileage at 3,786miles and the last is dated 1991 at 22,084 miles when the car went back into storage. Recently, the car was removed from its garage after a rest of 30 odd years and a thorough re-commissioning of the car has been undertaken. New parts fitted include the fuel tank, pump and lines, a new brake master cylinder and all wheel cylinders, hoses etc, new suspension bushes front and rear, water pump and hoses, and all fresh oils and filters etc. The wheels were shotblasted and refinished in the correct silver shade for a 1970 Minor and then shod with 5 new Bridgestone tyres as the original crossply type were very perished. A new exhaust system was also fitted and the car was passed fit by the MOT station. Since then, the car has been stored again and barely used and the family have taken the difficult decision to offer the car for sale for the first time ever. They hope a new caring owner will be found to look after, appreciate and enjoy the car. The car still belongs to them and is still registered to the original owner. The purchaser will be the second recorded keeper. As the photos show, the car is in very good original condition. It is not immaculate however and does show some blemishes commensurate with its previous use as you would expect. It is a remarkable survivor, largely rust free with all original panels. During the re-commissioning no repairs or respraying were carried out to the upper bodywork and underneath, only 2 small areas of corrosion were discovered. These have been repaired professionally to a high standard. The whole underside was then cleaned off and sprayed with Waxoyl rust preventative. The interior, engine bay and boot area have been cleaned but remain original. There is little sign of wear. The rear seat has probably barely been sat upon and the headlining, which so often lets old cars down, is unmarked.

It is unlikely that there is another Minor for sale with such a history and low mileage so it is difficult to establish a fair value. We feel that around £8,000.00 would be a realistic asking price. This is well below the highest price we have achieved for a Minor 1000 saloon. The car has just passed a new MOT for peace of mind although there is of course no requirement to do so anymore, the car being exempt regarding MOT and road tax payments. Seldom do we see a Minor 1000 saloon as good as this one. A delightful 1962 4 door model in lovely and largely original condition which has seemingly NEVER required any welding repairs to the underside. Dove Grey with a red interior. Pages and pages of history to back up the recorded 33,000 miles. The car comes complete with the original number plates, the original supplying dealers dashboard plaque and even the original leather key fob for the ignition key! The car drives exceptionally well – just like a Minor 1000 of its age should do but rarely does. It must have been treasured all its life.

Morris Minor 1000 4 door saloon 1968 “G” registration. Finished in gleaming Black as original with red interior. Strip down and respray a couple of years ago. Fairly recent reconditioned MG Midget 1098cc engine with stronger crankshaft and main bearings along with a new clutch and reconditioned gearbox at the same time. Very good condition. Morris Minor 1000 4door saloon 1961 in blue. In good running order, this car is for sale on behalf of the owner who purchased it in New Zealand and shipped it to the UK at the cost of around £2000 because of the condition of the bodywork. The car has almost no rust at all and is in remarkable condition. The car has had just 3 owners from new – the first keeping it for just 3 years and the second purchasing in 1964 and keeping it until 2003 when the current owner acquired it. He shipped it to the UK in 2015 and has owned it, garaged it and driven it fairly regularly since. It is now for sale due to the purchase of a Minor Traveller. The total mileage from new is only 81,000 miles and we have much history here with the car.

If bodywork condition is important to you – and it should be – then this car is probably the one for you and well worth a look at. The more you look at it, the better it seems. The paintwork is not immaculate but the structural condition is quite amazing and no welding repair has ever been required. Paintwork is almost all original and so is the interior trim. Fully UK registered and qualifies for road tax (and MOT) exemption although the car is currently MOT’d until next year and had no advisories. A set of 4 brand new tyres have just been fitted. You are unlikely to find another as original and rust free at this price in the UK.

Morris Minor 1000 4 door saloon 1968. Trafalgar Blue with light blue interior.

Concours condition is an overused term when describing classic cars. However this car has a long established proven record of many concours wins including National wins in Morris Minor Owners Club events at the highest ‘Grand Masters’ level as well as other wins in Autoglym and Andrew Greenwood events.

The car was completely restored from the ground up over a 4 year period using a very original two owner example. Nothing was left undisturbed and no expense was spared. New parts fitted were original BMC parts collected over many years and all work was to the highest standard.

Even if such parts could be obtained today, the cost of such a detailed restoration would be in excess of £30,000 so we feel that the asking price represents excellent value for such a unique vehicle. We are proud to offer the car for sale on behalf of the owner who is retiring from showing it after his 21 year ownership.

If you want the very best Minor 1000 available today then you should give this car real consideration.
